Featured Sessions: Home Sweet Home: Part 1 - Train Depot and Countryside

(10/06/2011)

James and Wendi Mitchell are absolutely in love with each other and with their local small business - a professional photography company in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Although they enjoy their studio photography, location portrait sessions, weddings, and other professional photography, they also decided to make a regular habit of taking the cameras out... just for fun.

As they were discussing the best course of action for their once-per-week photography outings, the married photographers determined that the best way to explore their creative insights and their home town was to take trips to some of the well known and not so well known sights that make Kentucky such a charming state in which to live.

On this September day, the journey began at the Historic Railpark and Museum on Kentucky Street in Bowling Green. It just so happens that this is the same location where Mitchell Photography hosts Pictures with Santa the first weekend every December at Bowling Green's Festival of the Trains. If you'd like to know more about Mitchell Photography's Pictures with Santa the first weekend in December, you can use the Contact form on the MitchellMoments.com website, or call  (270) 793-9871. As that magical weekend draws near, a special page will be added to the MitchellMoments.com website promoting the event with all the dates, times, and necessary details - including package pricing.

Following their stop at the train depot, the couple headed straight for downtown Bowling Green to engage in a fun free-style photography known as street photography. Although many of those images came out creatively cool, only one is being shown here and that's because it captures another piece of Kentucky's heart.... a church.

Regardless of the denomination, beautiful churches grace the landscape of Kentucky - in downtown Bowling Green as well as in the rural countrysides.

Each church here in Kentucky tells its own story through spectacular architecture, landscaping, stained-glass windows - and, as many Kentuckians will recognize, church signs or billboards offering a week's worth of enlightenment in a catchy phrase.

From downtown Bowling Green, the Mitchells headed out into the countryside to capture another part of Kentucky's heart - old barns, gleaming ponds, lush landscapes, growing crops, and whatever else they could capture through their lenses.

Here are a few more of the images taken on September 7th by James and Wendi Mitchell of Mitchell Photography that tell the story of Kentucky:
